Antigua, Guatemala. The makers of an alfombra (carpet) provide a ladder from which admirers can get a better photo of the artists' handiwork. An alfombra (carpet) of flowers and pine needles decorates the street in advance of the passage of a procession during Holy Week, La Semana Santa. The alfombra will be finished only a couple of hours before the passage of the procession, after which the remains will be quickly swept away by municipal street sweepers.
