Antigua, Guatemala. Incense fills the air as cucuruchos in purple tunics prepare the way for a religious procession during Holy Week, La Semana Santa. An alfombra (carpet) of flowers, pine needles, and other traditional materials decorates the street. It will only exist for an hour or two before the procession walks over it, after which the remains will be quickly cleaned up by municipal street cleaners.
