Maori Marae (Meeting House), Ohinemutu Village, Rotorua, north island, New Zealand. This house also serves as a meeting place for the traditional Maori parliament for the northern Maori tribes. Rebuilt 1942-43. The figure (tekoteko) at the top of the gable above the entrance is Chief Tematekapua, captain of the Te Arawa canoe which arrived in New Zealand (Aotearoa) in 1350.
