Mudayrib, Oman, Arabian Peninsula, Middle East - Omani examining sweets (halwa) for Eid al-Adha, the annual feast through which Muslims commemorate God's mercy in allowing Abraham to sacrifice a ram instead of his son, to prove his faith. Halwa, covered with almonds, is a traditional Omani sweet made of ghee, wheat starch, brown sugar, rose water, saffron, cardamon, nutmeg, and other ingredients. Note the khanjar (curved dagger) around the waist. The man in the center rear is holding the traditional Omani walking stick, the asa, or khuzran, as is the man in the foreground right corner.
